3.6. First boot

Approaching the moment of truth ..

  1. Connect a RS-232 cable with null modem, and start minicom. Configure minicom for 9600, no parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control [18]

  2. Power up the WRAP and set the WRAP baud rate to 38400. Change minicom baud rate accordingly.

  3. Reboot and expect to see the first signs of life from this shiny new router.

[Note]Note

While initializing the 8250.c driver, the linux-2.6.11 kernel mucks around with the baudbase, resulting in some gibberish on the console.


[18] With hardware flow control enabled, an alternate boot label can not be entered. Boot labels are specified in syslinux.cfg).
