Email letter from Al Charette:
To all, It is with extreme sadness that I tell you of the passing of
Captain William R. Anderson, USN Retired.
The Captain received his final set of orders from his Supreme Commander-in-Chief on Sunday, February 25, 2007 to go on eternal patrol. We will miss our Commanding Officer, a great man, but we will all join him, and others, as shipmates, when our time comes to relieve the watch.
You may e-mail Pat at pwanderson13@verizon.net
A service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Ft. Myer's Chapel, followed by burial with full honors in Arlington National Cemetery. A reception for all attendees will follow. Details later.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nautilus Alumni Association Inc. Richard Young, Treasurer, Box 623, Kuna, ID 83634-0623, or to the Submarine Force Library & Museum Association Inc., Naval Submarine Base New London, Groton, CT 06349
There, not one of the ocean's monsters could trouble the last sleep of the crew of the Nautilus, of those friends riveted to each other in death as in life.

"There is a port of no return where ships may lie at anchor for a little space. And then some starless night the cable slips leaving only an eddy at the mooring place. Gulls veer no longer. Sailor Rest your Oar. No tangled wreckage will be washed ashore"
CAPTAIN WILLIAM R. ANDERSON. . . . REST YOUR OAR.
HAND SALUTE
READY TWO.
